LimaBeads Challenge by Lorelei and Shannon - Reveal

I was lucky to get my hands on one of these beautiful kits from LimaBeads. Fantasticly put together by Lorelei Eurto and Shannon Iko Chomanczuk. Thank you so much!

Shannon and Lorelei's idea was that we simply create something with the beads. We could use them whichever way we wanted, adding our own beads, focals and so on.

I have made three pieces, two necklaces and one bracelet.

Starting with the first necklace
I have recently learned the technique of pearl knotting on silk thread. (I am definitely not a pro yet, my constructions get sort of wobbly, so if anyone could tell me what I do wrong I'd be very happy.) I love the effect of knotting. And the less wanted wobblyness on this necklace will soon go away I believe. Oh I should also mention, I accidently got two bags of the pale yellow potato pearls. Hope no one else missed out on theirs.

Now the bracelet
I tripled the chain, and added beads from the BeadChest and art beads from RadiantMind, Floridity, HumbleBeads, Jubilee, Elaine Ray, Loupiac and Gaea. Strung on waxed linen cord. Clasp from LimaBeads and the cute peace charm I got ages ago, but unfortunately I can't remember from where, it is possible it was actually from LimaBeads.

Necklace number two
Beautiful pendant from HumbleBeads. And I added more pearls, semi-precious, copper and glass beads from my own stash.

Malin you pieces are just beautiful. Love the movement of the color in the necklace with the Humblebeads pendant, the collection of beads in the bracelet and the way you doubled up the chain for it. And that wonderful lime green silk in the hand knotted piece.

Wow Malin, all very beautiful!! Hard to choose a fav. The first one is so sweet and elegant. I love the bracelet, you combined all the colors with the beatiful artbeads (this might be my favorite) but the last necklace is also very beautiful!! Very nicely done Malin!!

Girl, you really used every component of that kit amazingly! WOW! Love all your pieces and love how you referenced the various components and artists you used that weren't in the kit.

Can't wait to see future pieces from you!

Love what you did. That first necklace is STUNNING! Love that. Totally something I would wear. Perfection.

All three pieces are lovely, but the first is my favorite. Simple, sweet, stunning!

I love everything, especially your modeling photos :) I think the first necklace though is just so perfect. I love that you used green thread. Knotting isn't hard once you get the rhythm going (says the person who's done it exactly once), but my friend Charlotte knots a LOT and I've seen her do it. She just breezes right through it. Anyway, I can't wait to see what everyone else has done.

Fantastic Malin! I was going to triple the chain too for a bracelet but decided to do the choker. I love that chain!

Love the simplicity and also the "pop" of color on your pearl necklace. All your pieces such contemporary designs.

These are great pieces, they are all so wearable. It is so interesting to see how people take the same beads and come up with different ideas. Great job!

Malin, your designs just flow together and I love how you used the mixed of colors they are gorgeous. I have tried pearl knotting too, but have not found the trick on how to do it do that it looks good and that the knots are flush against the beads. I am hoping with a bit more practice I will get the hang of it.

Happy Saturday.

Take care,
Penny

Your designs are always so fresh and inviting Miss Malin! I think they are all great. That first one is so sweet. I love the mix of colors in your bracelet, and Humblebeads are just about the best things on the planet, if you ask me. Such a great display on the apples! You are one clever miss!
Enjoy the day!

Oh oh oh! They are all so pretty (and I recognise that Humblebead :-)) but my favourite has to be the earl necklace. Completely gorgeous. I love pearl knotting too, it's so soothing. Something to do with the feel of the fibre through one's hand. I love them all though!

Wow! These are beautiful pieces, Malin. My favorite is the first one. I love how that green silk sets off the pearls. And the flowers in the front make it so fresh and spring-like. Love the other two pieces, too. Would love to know where you got the clasp on the 2nd necklace. It's very cool!

Thank you all for your nice and kind comments!

@ Sally - That particular clasp actually comes from a pearl necklace I bought a few years ago. You can use a longer necklace doubled by closing it with that thing. But I have similar ones, based on the same principle, that I have bought. This one looked best for this particular necklace. My initial idea was actually to use a brown silk string/ribbon/band and just tie a knot and bow. But I didn't have one in a suitable color, so I took this solution instead. Similar ones should be able to get at your beads and findings supplier. Good luck!

Wow!

I thought the first two were stunning- then you pulled out that third beauty!! Wonderful, as always, Malin!

Great pieces Malin! I've been doing a bit of beading recently but finding it hard to make the time to photograph and blog about it. I knew if I came to visit your blog there would be something to inspire me :)

Take care

Malin they are all gorgeous - I just can't choose a favourite! I love them all. The colours are lovely, the chain on the bracelet is beautiful, how you have used the clasp on the humblebeads necklace is a great idea. I've added "knotting beads" onto my must-do list for this autumn - all the years I've made jewellery and I've still not given that one a proper go!
