Malin's Bracelet Craze of July 2014

Bracelets are just pouring out of me. For the last few days I can't stop making them. I am having so much fun. They are all basically following the same design concept, seemingly simple, but which I still can vary in endless variations. Two complementing kinds of beads sitting on each side of one art bead. Strung on either waxed linen or Griffin silk cord, and with a simple hook or swirl clasp.

It's all about the proportions and the combination of colors, shapes and textures. And that's what I have always loved about designing anyway. All the parts aiming to enhance each other and still creating a beautiful unity. It's the essence of my design/art philosophy! It doesn't matter weather I am painting a painting, sculpting, designing a graphic profile or making jewelry. I have had the same approach since ever. Kind of investigating and researching what happens if I try this, or that. And that is why it is so much fun for me. A never ending journey on which I keep discovering new things all the time. May my life never end giving me new thrills of all kinds. Some of my earliest childhood memories are to do with me playing with, and discovering things about colors and form. It's in my blood. It's my passion.

Forest green ceramic round by Karen Totten.

Raku ceramic square by Jubilee.

Orange with brown Erudite facetted polymer clay bead by Barbara Bechtel of Second Surf.

Forest green ceramic round by Karen Totten.

Green round ceramic bead with a tree by Kylie Parry.

Ivory with gold flower polymer clay disk by Leah Curtis of BeadyEyed Bunny.

NOW:
What is YOUR design philosophy? Are you even aware of if you have one? What is it you are investigating/researching when you are designing? In what lies the thrill for you? Please write a comment! I would love to hear all about it.

All my best,
Malin
