4 more bracelets of June 2013

I am going through a very productive period when it comes to making jewelry. It seems the designs comes to me so easily, and with such pleasure and joy. I just love it, and it is fun fun fun all the time. Very satisfying. If anything holds me back it is a lack of time and mainly an ability to work undisturbed during the day. It is just one of those periods. And I AM frustrated about it.  But still, I find I am very much into the actual designing and making of the jewelry pieces, whereas the rest of it I find quite a bit less fun. I am talking about taking photos, blogging, listing on Etsy and such things. It's like once I have finished one piece all I want to do is to make a new other one. I really wish I could have an assistant that could take care of the rest of the work on my behalf. I constantly miss the deadline dates for submissions to various magazines. So hence I hardly take part in any such things since a little while back. I do wish to be more active in that field of course, but it is like it is at the moment. Anyway, today I show you 4 new bracelets that I made during June. Hope you enjoy! :-)

I came back yesterday from Savannah, Georgia ...

I came back yesterday from Savannah, Georgia ...

... and look what I found there, and brought back with me. 

A new bracelet:

• Ceramic round star-flower bead by RoundRabbit. 
• Wood, glass, copper and silvery beads knotted on pale blue waxed cotton cord.

But in fact, no, I have never been to Savannah, Georgia for real. This is only how I imagine that it feels to be there. To walk under those very special trees with the spanish moss hanging from them. To pass  the old houses with their front gardens. We are in the south, so lots of sunlight bleaches any strong colors. A general atmosphere of older, past times. A very interesting place that I would love to visit one day. 

Of course my imagination is strongly colored by the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" by John Berendt. The book way much more than the film. Even visually from my inner visions. The book is always so much better than any film in my opinion. I did like the film too. But the book is sooooo much richer. It must be around 15-17 years since I read it. It's about time I do it again. I'd like to listen to it as an audiobook in English, so if anyone knows of a good reading, please let me know. 

It's funny how a design of a bracelet can take you on such a journey. Totally unexpected for me. Very pleasant though. It only came about as I was going to name the piece for the Etsy listing, ($49).

A bracelet

I made this bracelet back in February. It's been away on a transatlantic journey since. But today it came back, so now I can show it to you :-). Don't you find it difficult to not directly share designs that you are particularly happy with? I do! But I guess the more times I submit my pieces the less of an issue that will actually be for me.

Bead Soup Blog Party 4 - What I sent o Susie

Seems like everyone thought I would send a color fiest to Susie Hibdon, for the Bead Soup Blog Party #4. And you were all completely right actually! That is exactly what I had planned. :-)

However, as I started to roam around my stash this is what I came up with. There IS a little color there, but a bit more subtle than I had first thought.

I like the round/circular theme which goes through quite a few of the bits, and would hold a design together I believe. And I added a few other shapes that will make possibility for less stiffness. Susie does not come across as one who is stiff, or repetitive in her design style.

I made that Peyote ring myself, and left the thread there so Susie can use it however she wish to, IF she wish to.

The nepal wool bits to the furthest left I have cut myself, and then I also included a bigger bit which Susie can form however she wants to. IF she wants to.

The chunky button from recycled wood is from Meluna (awesome shop). Other special links: Elaine Ray and RoundRabbit. In fact I believe Nancy of Round Rabbit is planning a shop update today/tonight, the 1st of september. I'd go there if I were you. I would like to get a lot of the things I know she will put up, but I've reached my budget roof for this month :-(

I hope that the rusticy- and chunky-ness in my soup will be what challenges Susie a little bit. That was my idea anyway.

So how is it going for everyone with the soup party? I have not started with mine yet. I have this idea, which I don't know if I will be able to go through with. I wish, but we will see. If I don't manage this time (it is a bit complex), I will save the idea until a later date, and remember to credit Susie who was the source for it springing up at all.

Again, I would like to say how incredably grateful I am to Lori Anderson for all the work she is putting on this thing, the Bead Soup Blog Party. It is an awesome idea in the first place. And now, thanks to Lori's persistent work to make everything work well in the details and for everyone involved, it has grown sooo big. It has become an international phenomenon. Wow! That is big Lori! Don't you ever forget it! That is thanks to you. I think maybe you might need to hear it over and over again though! So I will keep repeating myself as often as I can dear Lori. Be proud of yourself!

Shop or not shop - Amazing feedback pt 1. And a new bracelet.

Oh the feedback I got from my last post. Absolutely fantastic! So many good ideas there, and ways of thinking, and angles and ... I got more than I ever could have imagined. There are things there I have never thought of. You are simply the best! Now I need a few days to think through it all, and come up with my plan. More likely I need a week or so. Well, I think I already know the basic structure of it all, but the details, the details ...

You have no idea how helpful your comments have been, and will be. You, and they, will make all the difference for me in the future. I am ever so grateful. Thank you thank you thank you!

Speaking of details, Michelle Mach, who's blog is my latest discovery and which I scrutinize every post of (coz she is excellent), wrote about details a few days ago. She is doing a "letter series" of posts paraphrasing Sue Grafton, an author I like to read. Anyway you should check this post "D is for Details". And that picture!

Her post relates strangely and strongly to one of my latest pieces. The bracelet you see in the pictures. I had the basic design laid out very quickly. Actually it was the two beads you see centrally in the image below, that happened to lay next to each other on my table. And BAM! I loved how they looked together. How about Nancy's, RoundRabbit, teal porcelain link to go with that? I've been so eager to use it ever since I got it a few weeks ago. Yes, it looks great! The rest came by itself. Lilac, teal and brass.

But, what about details then? Well, I have assembled, reassembled, assembled, took all the photographs, saw that something was missing on the chain part, took it apart, took it all apart, coz there were more details I wasn't happy with, like the string I had used was too stiff, and the large beads were sort of turned the wrong way, and also the dangles and so on. Why is it that sometimes the details just get right from the beginning, but then sometimes you have to redo and redo until it is all right. I took all the pictures again today, but of course I managed to smear the lens with my thumb after half of the session. Something I only noticed once I had uploaded them to my computer. No, I am not taking a third set of photos. Now these will have to do.

I haven't given the bracelet a name yet. Currently I call it XX.

Successful shopping yesterday

Aren't I lucky! I managed to get all of these beauties from Nancy Schindler's Round Rabbit Extra shop yesterday. Gosh you have to be super quick. Everything sells directly. I just missed the Amber Koi Fish unfortunately, and some other things too that I really would have liked to get. But I am soooooo happy about the things I did get. I also have to say I admire Nancy. Not only for her skill as an artist, but also for her clever business mind. She creates a demand for her products by doing these special sales days when she lists a lot of things in her extra shop. During just one day she sells a LOT.

I've been ill quite a bit lately, that is why I haven't been so active here, or in general in the beading community. I've got some new pieces of jewellery that I need to take pictures of to show you, and to list on Etsy. But I have decided to take it a bit easy for a couple of weeks. There are so many other things going on at the moment. See you soon anyway.

Wishing on a Saturday instead #2. AND who took this photo?

Can't help looking at a lot of christmas tree ornaments lately. It is not like we lack any in our house really, but you know ... These Bird Cage Cushions by Olive on Etsy, are just too sweet. I am very fond of all her things.

Nancy Schindler of Round Rabbit and the RabbitMuse blog makes wonderful porcelein pieces to use in jewellery. I love the ones with many wholes in them, but I seem to always miss out on her selling sessions in her BigCartel Shop. Bummer ... I don't have any of her things yet, but soon maybe. You can buy her jewellery in her Etsy shop.

Almost a year ago I saw this photo on a blog somewhere. I think it was someone who had been on a weekend course in this house. I just thought it was a marvellous looking building, very odd and different. So I saved the photo in my inspiration photos folder that I keep on my computer. Now I would just like to know where this is. Anyone who knows?
