Some chunkier pieces

Most of the time I find it difficult to take photos of necklaces. I feel the pictures often don't manage to capture how great the actual piece looks in reality. This is exactly the case with the two necklaces I show here today. I am super pleased with them both, they look so good. But I am not happy with the photos …
Anyway, I hope what I show you here will give you at least an idea.

    Summery Necklaces and Sailing Longings

Necklace - Porcelain Dragonfly With Moonstone Heishis
This necklace is rather short for being one of mine. The pendant sits very nicely in the décolletage, perfect for a classic white shirt on a summery day in the country side or by the sea side. Or wear it with a pretty white cotton dress at the traditional Swedish Midsummer's celebration.

Art bead: Dragonfly on porcelain - FinnCreations

Other beads and components: Farfalle/peanut beads, moonstone heishi semi-precious stones, seed beads, silvery findings, beading wire

Necklace - Saltsjöbaden (with brass pod pendant)
I am thinking sailing for this necklace. Either on the boat or just when spending time in the marina, perhaps drinking a cooling beer in the fancy restaurant.

Beads and components: Brass pod pendant from Objects & Elements, seed beads, wooden rounds, glass, acrylic, brass findings, waxed linen cord

    Summer feelings
Ok, so perhaps you have already guessed. I am really longing for my 3 day-session sailing 2.4mR in Saltsjobaden, Stockholm, in the beginning of July. Just looking at pictures gives me that wonderful feeling in my stomach. 3 days is not enough, but so far that is what I have booked. I hope to add another session again in August :-).

I did not do a lot of sailing at all growing up. I do not come from a sailing family. But most of my childhood I lived very near a marina. So the atmosphere is just so at home for me. Then I coincidentally came across sailing 2.4mR a few years ago as a part of a rehab session I did for people with MS (I have MS for those of you who didn't know). One half an hour session and I was completely and utterly hooked. It is the most amazing feeling you could imagine. You are so one with the elements. So free. And you can sail as fast or slow as you wish. Guess which one I like. You're right, faaaaast. I am going to take proper lessons this time, so I hope I will become more advanced in my sailing skills. It doesn't hurt that the location for where I do the sailing, Saltsjobaden is a fantastically beautiful place. And the general surroundings of the club, Skota Hem, are just plain awesome. The people are so nice too. I hope to have a meal at the Holmen Kok & Bar restaurant (below) at least once.

    Lamb and Fish

Easter week I am presenting jewelry containing a lamb and fish. Might seem like a thought, but it isn't … unless it is a subconscious one …

I have never been one for practicing Christianity myself, in the sense of for instance regularly going to church, praying or reading the bible. I wouldn't call myself religious. Even so I do believe there was most probably a person called Jesus 2000 years ago, who was an extraordinary person in many ways. Like Gandhi, Mandela, Luther King, Mother Theresa and other great and real people in our history. Jesus was probably unusually extraordinary. And there have been times when I've found myself asking "What would Jesus have done in a situation like this?". I find him to be a great life guide. And the story of his life is ever so fascinating and inspiring.

    Bracelet - Lisa Shaun
My daughter Arabella has a cuddly toy named Lisa Shaun (Shaun for surname since she is actually related to Shaun the Sheep … ). Lisa is soft, slouchy, extremely huggable, super cute, kind, caring and always there to give comfort for anyone in need of it. But she is also large. She can't be carried around everywhere. So when Rejetta Sellers recently showed us her latest design, an absolutely irresistible lamb/sheep bead in polymer clay, I knew I had to get one at once. And I've made this bracelet for Arabella. Now she can carry Lisa with her on the wrist at all times, for comfort when I am not around. The design is a result of a cooperation between Arabella and myself. The story is this: Lisa is in a field with purple flowers and under a bluish sky.

    ART BEADS:
Lamb/sheep in polymer clay - Rejetta Sellers, JettaBugJewelry
Purple flower stamped resin coins - Susan K Nestor

    OTHER:
Purple bicone, greenish leaf and bluish facetted rondelles - czech glass beads
    Silvery flower magnetic clasp
    Waxed linen cording

Necklace - Lime Green With Fish

    ART BEAD:
Lime green raku ceramic pendant - Jubilee

    OTHER:
    Green tube indonesian glass beads
    Matte pale periwinkle peanut beads
    Old rose/purple small seed beads
Silvery ornate hook and eye clasp
Super soft and agile beading wire

Secretly hiding behind the lime green pendant are two fish shapes carved into the clay.

    Knotted necklaces

A week or so ago Lorelei Eurto posted on her blog about knotted necklaces. And her post really inspired me (thanks :-) ). For one, I was really attracted to every piece she showed. All great designs and color schemes, and such fun combinations of beads. And secondly I realized that style of knotting long sections of beads for necklaces would really suit me. I often use knotting in my jewelry making. Knotting or macrame is perfect when I make jewelry sitting in front of the TV, or outdoors on the veranda for instance. I also love to roam around in my stash and pick out and combine beads of different shapes, textures and colors.

I am very happy with how these three necklaces turned out. And I got to use some beautiful art bead pendants that I have been hoarding for too long.

    Necklace - Blooming

    • Bloom pendant - Tesori Trovati, Erin Prais-Hinz

    • Kind Words Conquer polymer clay long pendant - SwoonDimples
    • Glass beads
    • Czech glass beads
    • Brass components

    Necklaces

Well, over the last couple of weeks I have pushed myself to start making more necklaces again. For a long period it feels like I have been making almost only bracelets. I think the main reason why necklaces doesn't happen all that often for me unless I conciously think about it, is my always messy and crowded work table. There is simply only such a small area I can use when I work.

Now I am in love with making necklaces again. And I also love how these two turned out.

Necklace - I Want To Fly Away

    • Balloon pendant - Jade Scott
    • Elongated boat shaped wooden beads
    • Different kinds of seed beads in green and brown tones
    • Copper findings and a copper magnetic ball clasp

    • Copper flower clasp - DaisyChainExtra
